ESTABLISHED IN 1965

Since 1965 Caruthers Creative Center Dance Studio has opened its doors to the community to teach and celebrate the performing art of dance.  Since its’ inception, Caruthers Creative Center has earned a reputation of being a family based organization that has showcased annual spring recitals for 44 years.  The Center offers a myriad of classes to culturally enrich students, fostering an appreciation of the arts.  Among these classes are:  Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Cheerleading, Hip Hop, Acrobatics/Aerials, Karate, Pointe, Lyrical, Baton, Adult Tap/Jazz, Adult Praise Dance & Aerobics.  The Center welcomes both girls and boys, young and old from ages 3 years to senior citizen. 

• The "Hot Stepperz" Dance Troupe was established in 1995 & has won numerous 1st place national & regional awards.  A number of our staff and students have danced professionally with Alvin Ailey Dance Company, Kansas City Chiefs Cheerleading Organization, and in such movies as "Kansas City", performing in dance shows in Paris and the most reputable cruise lines. 

• Joint Host of K.C. Hip-Hop Jamm 2005 with Award Winning Hip-Hop Choreographer & K.C. Native, Richard “Swoop” Whitebear (choreographer for Aaliyah, Dr. Dre, Backstreet Boys, & Performer in the blockbuster movie hit “You Got Served.”).  Thanks Swoop from your Caruthers Family!!!

Our dance troupe has participated in such annual events as National Tap Dance Day with Billie Mahoney; was featured in 2006 on the ad (and performed) for the launching of The Metro “Max” Bus for Public Transportation;  opening performance for Ladies’ Veterans of Foreign War National Annual Convention (Bartle Hall) 2007 and Dance in the Park 9/8/07, an annual event that has attracted crowds of up to 3,000 people.
