Cheerleading Class Curriculum

Mallorie is a Kansas City Chiefs Cheerleader and Caruthers Alumni and we are happy to have her as a part of our staff with her vast knowledge and expertise in Cheerleading and Dance! 

 

 

 

All listed information is subject to change as needed, and as directed by the instructor, and the staff of Caruthers Creative Center.

Warm up Consists of:

Slightly choreographed light aerobics routine that will include the following: grapevines, arm curls, arm lifts, light boxer shuffle, side shuffles, march-in-place, arm isolations, mountain climbers, jumping jacks, jogging in place.  The goal is to warm up bodies, and get blood flowing for activities for the rest of the class. 

Stretch:

To include, but is not limited to: runner’s lunge, hamstring “hanging” stretch, straddle stretch, arm stretches, right and left splits, straddle splits. The goal being to increase flexibility.

Arm Motions:

Right/Left Punch, Touchdown, High V, Low V, “T”, Broken “T”, Right/Left “K”,  Half “T”, Candlesticks, Daggers, Cheer Claps, Clean stance, and Second stance. The goal is to enhance sharpness of arm movements; and comprehension of cheer motions and standards.

Cheers/Chants:

  • Yo Baby
  • Rock Your Body
  • G-O!
  • Can’t Be Beat

More cheers/chants to be added as class progresses.  Will also include practice of voice articulation for cheering.  

The goal being that this will allow practice/ rehearsal of arm motions and cheer standards.

Dance:

4-6 8count combinations that will incorporate cheer motions, sharpness, and other cheer standards.   The goal being that the dancer is allowed practice/rehearsal of arm motions and cheer standards.

 Jumps:

  •  Tuck Jump
  • Right/Left Herkey Jump
  • Toe Touch (based on class progression)

 

The goal:  With increased flexibility from stretching activities – development of jumps should progress.                                         

      

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Parking on Saturdays is available on the street in front of the studio or in the parking lot on the North side of the building.  No parking on the street Mon-Fri.
